Week 13
I’m writing this around week 16, but it is really week 13 information, otherwise known as the 3 month mark. I went to my rheumatologist on January 8, 2025. I’ve been pretty bad about tracking everything since shortly after Thanksgiving, but I am still following all rules. Within the last week, I’ve intentionally been adding a little salt back in, as I feel I’m at the point that it’s dangerous not to. I’m throwing some old and new data up for comparisons.
Things I’m proud of:
Food:
I am still following all of the rules I set out to (see this post), except I never got good at juicing. I have, however, been better with fish intake the last 6 weeks or so. I have already started some indoor seed starts for my garden for cool weather things (cauliflower, broccoli, kale, lettuce).

From the Other Measurements Chart:
My blood pressure at the doctor’s office on 10/13/24 was 144/88, which is very high for me. It had been high for a while and getting higher, which was concerning to me. I believe there is a link between that and my prednisone intake. At my January 8, 2025 doctor appointment, it was 117/69. I’ve cut back prednisone even more since then, so it might be better. My ability to go down the stairs has greatly improved, although I will say I’m having some pain and weakness in my left hip, particularly going up stairs. I may need some physical therapy.

From Medicines and Supplements Taken Chart:
I’m off ibuprofen (stopped sometime the week after Christmas). I started at 400 – 800 mg/day. That last 200 mg was hard to get off, but worth it. I also started at 4.0 mg/day of prednisone. I am now down to between 1.5 – 2.0 (just started the process to get from 2.0 down to 1.5). I’m getting more consistent at taking my vitamin D. I do take other supplements, mostly daily, but am not as good as tracking them. I need to talk with my endocrinologist about getting my T3 up (it’s too low, but I struggle to tolerate more than 5 mcg of liothyronine).

Blood Work:
My inflammation markers (C Reactive Protein and Sedimentation Rate) continue to fall. They’re not normal yet. I had hoped they would have been at the 3 month mark, but also suspecting they wouldn’t be until off ibuprofen AND prednisone. I still have a little bit longer to go, but the SED rate is so close! See graphs below.
Urine Tests:
I set out to increase my potassium and decrease my sodium, such that potassium was higher than sodium based on this research (link here). I accomplished this without supplements, but fear my sodium is now too low (and probably masked by my prednisone intake). It was low enough they couldn’t graph it (below 10). I am starting to have little amount of salt a few times per week. See graphs below.
